R/o other/comorbid psych dz (phobia, PTSD, OCD, etc), medical dz (thyroid, resp dz, etc), drug abuse, med effect. Assess suicidality, as 1.7-2.5x ↑risk in anxiety/related dz. CBT as effective as meds, but no proof of additive benefit. Most improve w/ initial tx.
