Bleeding Risk
significant and sometimes fatal bleeding may occur; contraindicated in pts w/ active bleeding or stroke/TIA hx; not recommended in pts 75 yo and older unless high risk (diabetes or prior MI hx) due to incr. fatal and intracranial bleeding risk and uncertain benefit; do not start in pts likely to undergo urgent CABG; D/C tx >7 days prior to any surgery; additional bleeding risk factors incl. wt <60 kg, propensity to bleeding, and concomitant medications that incr. bleeding risk; suspect bleeding in any hypotensive pt who has recently undergone coronary angiography, PCI, CABG, or other surgery; if possible, manage bleeding without D/C tx; incr. risk of subsequent cardiovascular events if D/C tx, esp. in first few weeks after acute coronary syndrome

acute coronary syndrome
