ACIP recommends updated COVID-19 booster for enhanced protection
December 16, 2024

ACIP now recommends that all persons ≥65 years, as well as those aged 6 months to 64 years with moderate or severe immunocompromise, receive a second 2024–2025 COVID-19 vaccine dose six months after their last dose. Additionally, individuals ≥6 months with moderate or severe immunocompromise may receive further doses based on shared clinical decision-making. Previously, ACIP recommended COVID-19 vaccination for all persons aged ≥6 months. This updated guidance aims to enhance protection for vulnerable populations against evolving COVID-19 variants.
