Avocado and mango boost vascular health in prediabetes
March 9, 2026

In an 8‑week randomized feeding trial (NCT05353790) of adults with prediabetes (n = 82), a daily diet including one avocado and one cup of mango was associated with improved flow‑mediated vasodilation compared with an energy‑matched control diet. Central and brachial diastolic BP changes also differed between groups—particularly among men—while most other metabolic markers showed no meaningful between‑group differences. The fruit-rich diet increased fiber, vitamin C, and monounsaturated fat intake.
Clinical takeaway: Consider encouraging patients with prediabetes to incorporate whole fruits such as avocado and mango as part of a nutrient-diverse eating pattern that may support vascular health.
