'Dimple maker' trend takes over TikTok, but may have adverse effects
October 24, 2023

The trend is growing fast—the hashtag #dimplemaker has gained 60+ million views on TikTok, with the devices retailing for $15 on Etsy and other online shops. Although dimple makers are relatively safe and less invasive than dimpleplasty, experts caution that they may still pose risks, such as permanent nerve damage (Camero, 2023).
Dr. Ari Hoschander, a board-certified plastic surgeon based in New York, added that using dimple makers carries a 'risk of skin necrosis and subsequent scarring,' while another expert warned they may cause chronic pain. (Tilley, 2023)
