FDA greenlights new device to treat BPH

The Optilume BPH Catheter System is used to treat obstructive urinary symptoms associated with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) in men 50 and older. It includes two catheters: the Optilume BPH Prostatic Pre-dilation Catheter and Optilume BPH Prostatic Dilation drug coated balloon Catheter, which is coated with paclitaxel. Potential adverse effects include fever, bleeding, pain, and UTI, among others.
