FDA issues warning about illegal weight-gain product

FDA has reviewed several reports of serious adverse events associated with the use of Apetamin, which is being marketed illegally for weight gain and figure augmentation. The product, which is manufactured overseas and illegally imported, contains cyproheptadine, a potent antihistamine that requires a prescription in the U.S. Cyproheptadine can cause sedation, cognitive impairment, dizziness, and hypotension.
