FDA warns of hidden drug ingredients in blood glucose management supplement

FDA is advising consumers not to purchase or use Dr. Ergin’s SugarMD Advanced Glucose Support, a product promoted and sold for blood glucose management. Lab analysis confirmed that this product contains glyburide and metformin, which are only available with a prescription. Glyburide may result in hypoglycemia, which may quickly become severe, resulting in seizures, coma or death. Metformin can cause lactic acidosis, that can be life-threatening if untreated. In addition, metformin may also cause hypoglycemia when taken together with other medications to lower blood sugar.
